MoveFiles By Thomas Newsom (C) 1998
-------------------------------------
With a new beta version of DLG BBOS came the abilty to upload Aminet
downloads. It's not perfect though as you can only upload to ONE specific
directory then you must move the files yourself to the correct areas.
I recently wrote a utility that uploaded Aminet downloads into the CORRECT
areas. This is it, MOVEFILES.
Movefiles is now upto version 2.1 and has the ability to delete the files
once uploaded to your systems file areas.
Also, using MoveFiles you can, provided your DLGTick.cfg is setup for it,
automatically pass on files to configured nodes/points.
What does it do again?
-----------------------
MoveFiles will auto upload any Aminet downloads from a specified directory
as long as it has an accompanying #?.readme file.
Setting it up is a tad awkward, but once everything is setup correctly it's
a simple case of auto running MoveFiles via your cron. Or manually after
every FTP session.
How does it work?
------------------
MoveFiles uses DLGTick to upload (and pass on) the files, so, DLGTick must
be setup correctly. I'm assuming here that you know how to setup DLGTick, if
not consult your manual.
How do I set it up?
--------------------
Unarchive it. Oh! You've done that already, how else would you be reading
this :)
You can place the unarchived MoveFiles directory anywhere you like on your
system.
Now then hard part...
The MoveFile.cfg file is easy to setup. If you take all or most of Aminets
areas use the TREE file to setup similar to the included MoveFiles.cfg. Each
line is relevant (IE no comments!). Each area takes up two lines, line 1 is
the Aminet area (IE comm/dlg), line 2 is the DLG file area name
(Amiga_-_DLG_Related) and so on in pairs until all your areas are covered.
Setup DLGMail.TIC.
I've included both my DLGMail.TIC and MoveFiles.cfg as a guide.
Reason...
----------
I wrote this simply because I found it very tiring having to manually upload
new files got from Aminet. I also wanted a way to auto send files to various
points/nodes who feed off my system. I couldn't find anything for DLG to do
this for me in one session so MoveFiles was created.
I also found it very useful for uploading Aminet CD Rom's.
Ramble...
----------
MoveFiles is now Shareware. If you do decide to use this program please
think about the time spent on creating it. I program for DLG as well as
doing other programs for various things, mainly for the fun it brings me as
well as creating utilities that help in the daily maintenance and running of
a BBS, plus the occasional fun things here and there. MoveFiles is one such
tool that should help in the daily running of your BBS and hopefully making
your life that little bit easier in the process. I would appreciate a
little acknowledgement of my efforts.
I have created a few utilities for DLG since I moved from CNet to DLG. One
or two have created a little bit of interest and keyfiles have been issued
accordingly. MoveFiles is one of the few DLG BBOS utilities I have decided
to release as shareware.
Apart from showing 'Unregistered' MoveFiles will only upload 5 files at any
given launch until registered.
To register put 5ukp (notes, cheques UK monies only!) in an envelope addressed to :
Thomas Newsom
1 Granville Villas
Sculcoates Lane
Hull, HU5 1DZ
East Yorkshire
And you'll make yours truly a happy man knowing someone somewhere
appreciates my efforts :)
If anything comes of this program I'll add more features if required.
Problems....
-------------
Any problems with MoveFile should be directed to MoveFiles@allhours.karoo.co.uk.
That To Do List....
--------------------
If no #?.readme is found then check inside the archive for one.
Anything else?
